PRESS RELEASEWATCH VIDEO: ANDY WARHOL AT CHRISTIE’S PRIVATE SALES GLOBAL TOUR

Sold to Benefit The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts
Christie’s Private Sales is proud to announce a selling exhibition in partnership with The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts. This unique initiative allows for the presentation of classic Warhol iconography – including cow prints, diamond dust portraits and toy polaroids – within the framework of his connection to Asia. Andy Warhol first visited China during the height of his career in 1982 at the invitation of Chinese businessman Alfred Sui. Though relatively unknown to the Chinese public, Warhol was very intrigued by Mao Zedong, having begun his influential series of the Communist leader 10 years prior to his trip. Among the portraits of important businessmen and pop culture figures, a classic print of Mao will be offered in the exhibition. We are pleased to announce that proceeds of Andy Warhol at Christie’s sales benefit the grant-making initiatives of The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts.
